Discover how Seafy makes Wi‑Fi connectivity possible even in the middle of the sea, so you can stay online wherever you are.
How does Wi‑Fi work in the middle of the sea?
On ships, Wi-Fi is delivered through a satellite connection using both LEO and GEO satellites, which rely on a network at different orbital distances to ensure a more stable and faster signal, even far from the coast. A dedicated antenna installed on the ship receives the signal directly from space, and from there it is distributed on board via Wi-Fi in cabins, restaurants, and all common areas.

How fast is it?
Onboard WiFi is stable and fast, allowing you to use social media, watch videos, make video calls, and work online. However, bringing internet to the sea is complex: the ship's movement, waves, and bad weather can affect connection quality. To ensure a reliable connection, multiple antennas are installed on board: some more powerful than others. They work together to keep the signal active. In extreme cases, both may experience difficulties, but such situations are very rare and temporary.

What can you do with it?
With WiFi, depending on the package you purchase, you can send messages via WhatsApp, Telegram, or Messenger to stay in touch with friends, family, or colleagues even while sailing. You can watch videos, listen to music, stream content even in HD, and browse your favorite websites. If needed, you can also work from the ship, join online meetings, and manage emails and documents, staying connected just as if you were on land.
