Where to go on holiday in October?

The leaves are changing and Halloween is approaching, which means it’s time to start planning your trip! Here are some of the best places to go in October. October is one of the best times to visit Europe, with mild temperatures and a wide range of activities. Hot scorching or cool comfortable? There’s something for everyone!

Greece: October is a beautiful time to visit archaeological sites outdoors, when the weather is pleasantly hot during the day but without being damp or scorching. In general, the southern part of Greece is warmer, while the northern islands are cooler. If you want the heat, avoid the islands of the Gulf of Thessaloniki, while the Dodecanese islands such as Rhodes are rather hot, but also the Cyclades, Crete and partly the Ionian Islands.
This is the best time to visit the Greek islands, with still good weather to enjoy the sea and the beauty of nature, but with really affordable low-season prices. All these islands are affected by the hot African currents and the sea temperature in October is around 22 degrees, while at the end of September the water temperature is even 25 degrees.

Malta: The island is located less than 2 hours by plane from Italy, is well connected with direct flights from many cities and has a suitable climate in October both for a holiday by the sea, away from the crowds of August, and for a long weekend to relax and regenerate after returning to work. It is also the best season for trekking or walking in the wild scenery of the island or for cultural visits, thanks to a more suitable and milder temperature.
Average temperatures in October are around 25 degrees. As far as the sea is concerned, the currents allow to have a pleasant water temperature which is still suitable for bathing until the beginning of November.

Croatia: Probably because of its proximity to Italy, but certainly also because of its incredible beauty, Croatia has always been one of the favorite travel destinations of Italians. The best time to visit Croatia and the islands is in the middle season, when it is also much easier to find accommodation. In general, Croatia can be visited all year round, but much depends on the type of holiday you are planning to make.
For bathing life along the coast or on one of the many islands, summer is the best time, May, June and September even better because they are not too crowded.

For a cultural trip, all seasons can be fine. October is a good time to visit a seaside town. In fact, you will have many options when it comes to choosing vacation destinations. It’s never too early to start planning an autumn escape.

All of these destinations are great choices, especially if you feel like celebrating Halloween.
